The next place that we wanted to go was just up the coast – St. Augustine. Along the way, we stopped for lunch at Da Kine Diegos in Satellite Beach – a little burrito joint that we’ve been to many times before. After gorging ourselves on overstuffed burritos served up by the local surfer kids, we headed to Camping World in Cocoa Beach to pick up a propane hose adapter that we needed for our grill. From there, we headed to Anastasia State Park. We tried to get a walk-up site, but they were completely booked. The next planned stop after Anastasia was Hanna Park in Jacksonville, so we continued up the road, as we knew that they had availability. On our way out of St. Augustine, we stopped to see the lighthouse, which was a good break out of the car for everyone. An hour more in the campervan, and we arrive to a soaked and flooded Kathryn Abbey Hanna park. We drove through the campground to find a site, and ended up with a nice dry one next to a snowbird couple that had been there for three months. Cheaper than their old condo, they said. We rode bikes to the beach after a long ride to the grocery store for soy sauce that we never used. Cooper was excited to poke a jellyfish with her finger; Jennifer, not so excited that Ryan let her do it. Brooks was happy to again get covered in sand. The next day, the Deans stopped by on their way back from cruising around on vacation. Ryan dragged the kids’ bike trailer 11 miles round trip to the nearest Publix to get groceries for dinner for all of us. Uphill and stiff headwinds…both ways. The Dean’s payment for dinner was helping us break down the campsite, as we were expecting heavy rain in the middle of the night. The storm never really came together, but at least we were in good shape to make an early departure and meet them again for breakfast. After an awesome breakfast at the Beach Diner in Atlantic Beach, we re-upped on supplies in Jax, including our first Costco trip. We officially made it less than a week before the lure of multi-jumbo-packs of food and cheap pizza sucked us in. Surprisingly, Jennifer managed to stuff it all in the already crowded fridge and freezer. And that’s all that happened in Jacksonville.
